Thanks a million the nice words and the lovely welcome!
Here in Ireland not shiba forum, not the "work" Club...
There are only 2 breeders, Kyoshi kennels and me, and a few shibas.

In Spain I know 1 very famous breeder, I like Silvia (Shun'you Kensha), I have a lovely boy from her!

I'm sad because here is "english" type, no "japanese" type, the KC (English Kennel Club)
has a strandard, this is not FCI or Japanese standard.
I prefer the Japanese type, and attempt to follow the Japanese guidelines!

La principal diferencia que yo encuentro entre la línea japonesa y la inglesa radica fundamentalmente en la cabeza y por tanto en la expresión. Tengo la sensación que en el RU se está premiando un tipo de perro con mejillas muy pobladas de pelo confiriéndole una cabeza excesivamente ancha, sin llegar a ser redonda sino más bien elíptica debido a la poca separación que suele haber entre sus orejas. La línea japonesa en cambio tiene una frente mucho más amplia con una mayor separación de las orejas, haciendo que el cráneo sea más ancho y por tanto la cabeza más redonda. La cabeza en la línea nipona suele ser casi de la misma anchura que el propio cuello mientras que en la inglesa la cabeza es más ancha que éste debido sobre todo al abundante pelo de las mejillas. A parte de eso también se está premiando en Inglaterra perros con excesivo Urajiro, que le dan una expresión algo diferente a la de los perros japoneses, supongo que esto podría ser debido a los cruces con ejemplares de color blanco. A ver si Krisz nos dice algo al respecto. Saludos.

I think the difference between the 2 types:

English:
-round or almond eyes
-large, thin, upright ears (like husky)
-short legs (like corgie)
-short back (10:10 ratio)
-little urajiro, little white on the fang (many shibas are grey or red mask)
-small skull , no stop (like collie)
-muzzle is long and slim


Japanese standard says:
-dark, triangular, oblique eyes
-thick, well furred ears (like akita)
-10:11 ratio
-white fang
-round skull
-muzzle tapers slightly

I love equal to equal th both types! in Spain there aren't so much breeders, three I think, the silvia one, www.shibainu.tk (they're building it) and www.pinaroka.com

The UK and IRL judges are prefer the english type and the other judges (European, USA or Japanese)
are prefer the japanese type.

Oriol, mucho me temo que Krisz no pretende criar perros con las características del tipo inglés. Pienso que ella es fiel a sus principios y seguirá criando y seleccionando el tipo japonés, que es el que reivindica el Club Nippo, la FCI, así como al AKC. Es lo que ocurre con muchas otras razas como por ejemplo el Springer Spaniel Inglés de línea británica y el de línea americana, ambos tipos se diferencian tanto que parecen dos razas distintas. De hecho esto mismo ha sucedido con razas como el Akita o el Cocker, que de ser en un principio una sola han pasado después a ser dos. ¿Cuál es la circunstancia que tiene la culpa de todo esto embrollo? pues el simple hecho de que haya dos estándares para una sola raza, algo que a mi juicio es totalmente inaudito, ya que se supone que los verdaderos dueños del estándar de Shiba Inu son los japoneses y no los ingleses. Por tanto pienso que corresponde al país nipón la elaboración y modificación de dicho patrón racial y no a ningún otro, ¿no crees tú lo mismo?. Saludos.

Although in England they have a different standard from the FCI or JKC, in Crufts 2007 has won MomoChan (Koubai Go Ryuukyuu Uruma from Silvia Exposito) that is clearly a Japanese Shiba type.

Yes, the judge was Mr Gerald Mitchell, he is a famous Akita breeder and he was the first shiba breeder in the UK!
